INCIDENT DETAILS
 
03/18/2007 -- Emergency crews responded on a Sunday afternoon for a serious motor vehicle accident on Fish Hatchery Road, just south of Nobel Drive. A Ford Escort wagon carrying three collided with a work van. The car continued traveling northward for a short distance before leaving the roadway, narrowly missing a utility pole and crashing into the ditch. The three occupants were trapped in the vehicle and firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools to remove the vehicle from around the patients before they could by removed and transported to the hospital by Fitch-Rona and town of Madison paramedics.

The van also suffered significant damage, including having the rear axle sheared from its mounting and the drive shaft pulled out of the transmission, but the lone occupant was uninjured.

Fish Hatchery Road was closed to traffic for two hours during the extrication and subsequent police investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
